The VM600 system can provide integrated turbomachinery protection, condition and advanced performance monitoring in a single 6U high 19” rack. It is a digital, modular and scalable hardware and software solution for plant usage optimization from a single advanced, flexible and configurable system. Each VM600 system can be easily configured to meet the specific needs of each application.
The VM600 can accept transducer inputs from accelerometers, dynamic pressure sensors, proximity probes and velocity, temperature and air gap sensors. These inputs are analyzed to monitor shaft vibration (relative and absolute), displacement and eccentricity, oil pressure, absolute vibration, speed, expansion (absolute, differential and casing), combustion pressure and generator air gap.
Among many innovative features, the signal processing cards can perform any machinery monitoring function without the need for different sub-modules or hardware adjustments; the cards are fully software configurable. This simplifies specification, installation and training, while reducing spares stocks and service times. The VM600 condition monitoring software is powerful and fully featured, while remaining easy to learn and to use, running under Windows XP, Vista and 7 operating systems, on standard networks. Full remote access with multi-level security is available.
For full control over turbomachinery running costs, Meggitt provides VM600 performance monitoring software. Using data from the VM600 and other systems, the operator sees the exact condition and performance of his machinery. Advisory functions include maintenance actions required, cost optimization, hot parts life calculation, emissions tax calculations and more. Performance monitoring is usually applied to gas turbines and the VM600 software excels in this, while also covering steam turbines, compressors and pumps.
